You’re In Your Own Way

The ideas we have are often grand. That is perfectly wonderful and fine, but ideas don’t mean anything without actions attached to them.

Big lifestyle changes don’t happen all at once.

We have all seen the picture of Jeff Bezos sitting at his first desk with the spray painted amazon logo. If not I’ll attach it right below.

There is little to no chance that you are going to be the richest person on the planet.

That’s a stupid fucking goal anyway. It is selfish and all it’s going to do is drive you crazy to think that way.

I am not Jeff Bezos. He makes more money in a minute than I make in an entire year. I however am talking to you as someone who has made it much further down my chosen career path than I ever thought possible.

I also just ran faster than I thought was possible six month ago.

The only thing that has progressed my career to this point and the only thing that has let my lungs and legs carry me as quickly as they can today is habit building.

Being able to charge five figures for a film making contract and being able to run sub 7 minute miles seemed impossible before I did the work. To be honest it didn’t really take that much work. It just took small amounts of consistent effort.

If you want to write, write when you don’t feel like it. If you want to run, run when you don’t feel like it. If you’re a film maker who thinks your gear sucks or list literally any excuse, go out and film something dammit. Your fantasies aren’t making you any better.
